Abstract:

Medical education has globally experienced a major disruptive change in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing conflicts, and technology has been rapidly used to maintain teaching and learning. The future of medical education and training, is still uncertain but the use of technology and new educational models, are highly likely to be essential components of the transformative change. Evolvement of the field health professional education and digital leadership are crucial strategical components to be able to meet new demands and support education of the future doctors and nurses. Research has suggested an identified gap in digital leadership and contemporary immersive learning tools supporting health professionals in their roles as educators, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students to strengthen online literacy preparation and transition into the healthcare sector’s digital transformation landscape.

Sonesson’s experience in medical educational research, applied technologies and international research network, with successful achievements such as curricula in digital leadership, person centred care and leadership for health professionals, and with research impact on international surgical education and NATO guidelines for live simulation training aimed for health professionals, would contribute to the MBRU in filling the identified gaps in the establishment of MBRU as the International Community of Excellence in Medical Education
